Debt recovery pricing

The first step in recovering your debt is for us to a first appointment with you to take your instructions,  review your relevant documents and correspondence.

Our Fixed fee appointments are £90 plus 20% VAT for up to 30 minutes or £150 plus 20%VAT for time after 30 minutes but up to I hour

Thereafter (if instructed) we would write you a letter of advice and pre-action of claim. Based upon the hourly rate listed below this would be works estimated at between 1-2 hours the estimated cost being between £100- £550  plus 20%VAT

If a claim was required to be issued to Court a Court fee would be payable depending on the value of your claim, these currently being:

  • £35.00 for claims up to £300;
  • £50.00 for claims between £300.01 and £500;
  • £70.00 for claims between £500.01 and £1,000;
  • £80.00 for claims between £1,000.01 and £1,500;
  • £115.00 for claims between £1,500.01 and £3,000;
  • £205.00 for claims between £3,000.01 and £5,000;
  • £455.00 for claims between £5,000.01 and £10,000;
  • 5% of the claim for claims between £10,000.01 and £100,000.
  • NO VAT UPON COURT FEES

Without knowing the facts of a case and the extent of the evidence it is difficult to know the exact legal costs for each claim but estimated time is as follows:

  • To issue a small claims value less than £10,000  –  2 hours
  • Preparing counterclaim – 2 hours
  • Witness statements – 2-3  hours
  • Preparation for final hearing – 2-3 hours
  • Final Hearing – 2-4 hours

Estimated £1000 – £3150 plus 20%VAT

To issue claims valued between £10,000 and £24,999 – 3-4 hours

  • Preparing counterclaim – 2 hours
  • Witness statements – 2-4  hours
  • Preparation for final hearing – 2-3 hours
  • Final Hearing – 2-4 hours
  • Disclosure – 2-4 hours
  • Preparation for hearing 3-5 hours
  • Brief to counsel 2-3 hours

Estimated £1800 to £6525 plus 20%VAT (Consultant solicitor to undertake majority work at £225 plus VAT per hour Legal assistants work at £100 plus 20% VAT per hour

  • To issue claims valued between £25,000 and £100,000 (Multitrack) – 5-6 hours
  • Pursuing defence and reply 2-4 hours
  • Preparing counterclaim – 2 hours
  • Directions – 2-4 hours
  • Disclosure – 5-7 hours
  • Evidence (Expert) – 4-6 hours
  • Witness statements – 2-4  hours
  • Cost and Case Management Conference 6-10 hours
  • Preparation for final hearing – 3-5 hours
  • Final Hearing – 2-4 hours
  • Disclosure – 2-4 hours
  • Preparation for hearing 3-5 hours
  • Brief to counsel 2-3 hours
  • Final hearing – 8-10 hours

For claims over £25,000 it is difficult to estimate exact times as this is dependent upon the complexity of the case, amount of documentation, witnesses etc Furthermore it may be more proportionate for various parts of the case to be handled by Barristers whose cost would be in ascertained and agreed by you before instructing their services (they can range from £500 to £5000 plus 20%VAT  depending on service required ie drafting document or representation at court. A legal assistant or paralegal would assist the Consultant Solicitor or principal solicitor.

Based on the above estimates of time monetary claims between £25,000 and £100,000 (Multitrack) are estimated at between £10,800 and £16650 PLUS 20%VAT  (plus Barrister fees plus Court Fees)

FEE Earners Rates

Claims are managed by qualified solicitors being our consultant litigation solicitor or principal solicitor with hourly rates currently up to £225 plus 20% VAT. Solicitors are supported by paralegal and legal assistants charging lower rates, at £100 20% plus VAT

Disbursements

A disbursement is any third-party cost charged outside the firm, for example Court Fees, Counsel Fees  High Court Enforcement Costs.

Court fees do not attract VAT, but counsel and High Court Enforcement Officers fees (that vary from organisation to organisation) will usually attract VAT
